ABOUT ME

WHERE I’VE WORKED

I’ve always been a children’s fiction specialist. I began my career in 2010 at Egmont Publishing (now Farshore) and joined the Bloomsbury Children’s and YA Fiction team in 2016, before becoming Editorial Director in 2022. I’ve been editing freelance since 2024.

AWARDS

I've acquired and edited books that have gone on to win or be shortlisted for many major prizes, including the British Book Awards, the Nero Book Awards, the YA Book Prize, the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize, the Laugh Out Loud Book Awards, the Irish Book Awards and the Books Are My Bag Reader Awards.

APPROACH

Writing a book is fun, and there’s no reason why editing it can’t be too. I aim to bring as much creativity and collaboration to the process as possible. Take a look at my testimonials page to get a sense of what it’s like to work with me and how I tailor my approach from book to book.

EDITING EXPERIENCE

I’ve edited books across the spectrum of 5+ to teen and crossover fiction – from fantastically funny, full-colour first readers to heart-breaking, heart-mending literary YA prize-winners. Take a look at my portfolio for more information about the kinds of stories I love working on.

MARKET KNOWLEDGE

As an editorial director, it was my job to acquire books that I knew would find avid fans and stand the test of time. It’s given me an in-depth, up-to-the-minute knowledge of the children’s and YA market, its trends and opportunities. I can help you understand where your book fits into the bigger picture.

FLEXIBILITY

I offer a range of editorial services and I’m happy to adapt to your individual timeframes, budgets and ways of working wherever possible. For more information or a list of rates, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m always happy to discuss how I can provide the support you need.
